We’re proud of the hard work every First Option employee does. Together, we change lives every day. To show our appreciation, we are launching an “employee spotlight” series to showcase one employee from each branch.
Today, we’re getting to know Leonard Navarrete from our Phoenix branch.
Where are you from, Leonard?
I was born and raised in Mexicali, Baja, California. I moved to the United States at the age of 12.
Just for fun… how tall are you?
How many years have you worked at First Option?
Just four months!
What is your favorite animal?
A mini schnauzer dog.
Can’t argue with that choice… why a mini schnauzer?
My dog, Troy is that breed.
What was your favorite TV show growing up?
I loved Chips, Knight Rider, Dukes of Hazard and of course I was a Saved By the Bell fan.
What’s your favorite thing about Phoenix?
When most people think about Phoenix, the first thing that usually comes to mind is heat! But there’s so much more to the city. I love the diversity of the people, the outdoor activities in winter and water activities in the summer. Phoenix is where God has chosen for me to make a difference and I’m enjoying living life one day at a time here.
Who is your hero? Name the first person who comes to mind.
I don’t put a lot of stock in celebrities or famous speakers. My true heroes are Jesus, my wife and my mother.
How did you end up working at First Option?
A friend told me about the opportunity. I had been looking into getting back into the mortgage industry after working in real estate for 5 years. I’m blessed to have found this amazing company.
What do you love most about your job?
Knowing that I can help a family achieve their dream of owning their home and having the ability to help a real estate agent grow their business. Being able to build relationships and friendships every day is incredible.
What is your greatest memory at First Option so far?
In such a short period of time, I have met amazing people here. I have to say that my initial interview and conversation with our President, Josh Fitzwater, has so far been my most amazing experience. I was blown away by how God was involved in me coming here and how this company has a foundation built in character, faith and belief.
Give us one parting piece of advice for Phoenix homebuyers.
The home buying process can be stressful for any buyer. I always recommend to do as much as you can to educate yourself before starting the process. We are trusted professionals and will take care of you, but it is always helpful to understand the basics. I always encourage buyers to get pre-qualified for a loan prior to looking for properties. I also ask them to define must haves, like to haves, and cannot haves. Be realistic and flexible – this can be a very fun time for you and your family.
