“He was great, called him a lot to ask questions and he answered them if not he found the answer and called me back. Great person; would like to deal with him again.”

The first-step in closing your loans is to meet with your loan officer. You will be advised on what documents to bring along for your appointment.

If you’re looking to purchase a home, we highly recommend this initial meeting with your loan officer prior to going house-hunting. This is a prequalification appointment with the loan officer where you can determine in advance what price range best suits your budget. In this appointment, you will receive a preapproval letter which defines what terms you have been offered for a mortgage – showing realtors and sellers this letter lets them know you are a serious buyer!

Every mortgage is different, but the following are some items generally needed during the approval process:

  • A purchase contract for the house (if you are buying a home)
  • Checking and savings account statements for the previous 2-3 months
  • Pay stubs, W-2 forms, tax returns for two years, and income verification
  • Divorce settlement papers, if applicable
  • Bankruptcy papers, if applicable
  • A current mortgage statement, if applicable
  • Tax returns and business licenses, if you are self-employed

If you happen to be missing one or more of these papers, go ahead and meet with your loan officer as scheduled. He/She can request those documents later if needed, or even use alternate info in their place.
